Share your ideas

Following a very successful 2 days with Tim Rylands, I have set up an area of Warrington Grid for Learning to share ideas and resources linked to the course. If you have anything you are willing to share please let Chris or Dawn know.

Tim in Action!

Day 2 of our CPD event with Tim Rylands was amazing for many reasons.

First of all, Woolston CP school who were our wonderful hosts so we owe you a huge vote of thanks for your hospitality. In particular we would like to extend our thanks to Judith, the head teacher who agreed to allow us to invade her school and disrupt the whole day; Angela, the deputy head who catered to our every need and made sure everything went smoothly; Hannah, Year 1 teacher and organiser extraordinaire who made sure we were fed and watered!

Secondly, the pupils were very kind to us and worked with all manner of strange people without batting an eyelid! It made the whole event more meaningful to see the response of real pupils of all ages and abilities.

Thirdly, Tim Rylands said it would work and it did! He showed us many useful teaching techniques as he kept up to 60 children (and associated adults) engaged for over an hour at a time. Best of all, the technology sat quietly in the background patiently facilitating the literacy focus.

And last but by no means least, the many excellent and creative Warrington teachers who participated with their enthusiasm and laughter, making the event so worth while. They are now buzzing with loads of creative ideas to try out share with each other.

Thanks Tim, it was awesome!

We have waited in anticipation for five months and Tim Rylands did not disappoint.

What went well? Well – everything! But here’s what the teachers said:

“The combined ICT/Creativity approached provided great stimulus for so many aspects of class work. I can really see how this may engage reluctant/low confidence writers and pupils.”

“Saw the connection between the game and children’s learning. Good ideas for the classroom.”

“I think our Year 6 will love it!”

“Thank you for an excellent day, feel inspired!”

“…fantastic stimulus to get the children writing.”

“…..motivational and so inspiring!”

“Fantastic, all teachers should have the opportunity to experience watching/listening to Tim Ryland.”

“Creative approach to the curriculum. Truly inspirational day and lots of fun. Thank you.”

And for Sarah, who demonstrated some great ideas, tips and resources:

“The ICT elements were particularly useful, and I was amazed at how much I picked up in this short session.”

“I didn’t know you could do that!”
